Leaving Budapest

After three busy days our time in Budapest ended and we were off on the bus to Vienna.  Rather than heading straight for Vienna, we instead drove a bit cross country to a small medieval Hungarian village called (in English) Saint Andrews.  There a few interesting photos in the album for this post and some creative opportunities there.  We also made a nice stop later for lunch at a restaurant along the Danube.

Budapest was a surprise in the end.  We had no particular expectations, but we enjoyed it more than we anticipated, and found the city beautiful and interesting.  The people were welcoming and friendly, and the food tasty and plentiful.  We were confronted with the harsh reality of life behind the Iron Curtain, and learned to appreciate our own freedom, and respect the resiliency of the Hungarian people.  Our time here was much too short and there was much more we could have done and seen.  Budapest deserves another visit.
