Destination Budapest

After killing just over 4 hours in CDG, we were ready to move on to our destination.  At that point we have been traveling for over 12 hours straight and we were both tired.  The 2 hour flight to Budapest was mostly nap time.

The history of Budapest is long and rich, dating back to Celtic settlers in the first century.  Current day Budapest is split by the Danube river and is the merging in 1873 of formerly separate cities, Buda, Pest, and Obuda.  For a good summary of the history of Budapest, see Summary of Budapest History.  For a more thorough explanation of the history see Budapest History.

Our hotel sits on the Buda side on a main thoroughfare of the city, with the city center only a few blocks away.  We took a short walk this first evening, but more on that later.
