Budapest Public Transit

We were amazed at the variety and extent of the public transit options in Budapest.  There are multiple generations of subways from the oldest built on the European continent, through Soviet era subways that have no air conditioning (windows are open for air circulation, which is very noisy), to very new and modern subways at the lowest levels.  In addition there are a variety of surface trolleys, trains, and buses.  All intersect and can be ridden with a single day pass, making for a very efficient and useable system.  I did not make an effort to photograph the different systems as it only became apparent on our last day there during our last walking tour.  But in the photo album for this post are a few photos of the oldest subway tunnels, which are interesting.

We only wish we had more time to explore the city further using the public transit, but our time was limited.  Maybe there will be a next time.
